TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION, CERTIFICATES & TRACEABILITY
Complete material documentation, from the ordered grade to the delivered batch
At NOVALPES MÉTAUX FRANCE, the conformity of a material is not based solely on its commercial designation. Each supply is studied according to the grade, the applicable standard, the material number, the metallurgical state, the shape of the product, the dimensions, the tolerances and the specific requirements of the customer.
The technical data sheets presented below allow for quick identification of the main characteristics of each grade: EN and international designations, equivalencies, indicative chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatments, delivery conditions, available forms and areas of use.
PRODUCT DATA SHEETS
Each technical sheet available on this page is organized by nuance in order to provide a clear and quick reading of the data useful for the study of a project.
You will find there, depending on the subject family:
designation EN • material number • AFNOR / DIN / AISI / SAE / ASTM equivalencies • chemical composition • mechanical properties • hardness • metallurgical state • heat treatment • available shapes • indicative tolerances • machinability • common applications.
These fact sheets constitute a technical basis for pre-selection.
The contractual values applicable to a delivery remain those of the agreed standard, customer specifications, order and material certificate corresponding to the batch actually supplied.
EN 10204 3.1 MATERIAL CERTIFICATE
For the products concerned, the EN 10204 type 3.1 material certificate constitutes the reference document accompanying the supply.
It ensures the correspondence between the delivered material and the specific control results associated with the batch or casting in question.
Depending on the product and the applicable standard, the certificate may include, in particular:
identification of the producer and the material;
nuance and material number;
manufacturing standard;
casting number / heat number;
lot number;
dimensions and delivery condition;
chemical analysis of casting;
applicable mechanical results;
heat treatment conditions when required;
results of controls or tests specified in the specification;
identification and validation of the producer's quality control.
The logic corresponds to European industrial practices: certificates 3.1 and 3.2 according to EN 10204 are specific control documents, and traceability is based in particular on the identification of the casting and the batch.
ADDITIONAL TESTS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST
When required by the application, specifications or industrial sector, additional product-specific controls and tests may be requested during the consultation and included in the supply file, subject to their applicability to the relevant grade and form.
Depending on the products, these controls may include the complete chemical composition, tensile characteristics, yield strength, elongation, hardness, Charpy impact strength, Jominy hardenability, microstructure, inclusion cleanliness, decarburization, surface condition or non-destructive testing.
For applications requiring enhanced monitoring, controls such as ultrasound, eddy currents, magnetic particle testing or dye penetrant testing can also be considered with the producer or a competent testing body, depending on the material, the geometry of the product and the specification required.
TRACEABILITY FROM CASTING TO DELIVERED PRODUCT
Our approach aims to preserve documentary continuity between:
producer → casting → manufacturing batch → product → certificate → customer order.
Material identification is verified so that the technical information provided to the customer remains linked to the relevant supply.
This traceability is particularly important for parts intended for bar turning, precision machining, automotive, hydraulics, mechanics, aeronautics and applications requiring documented control of the material.
It also makes it easier to analyze in the event of receiving inspection, approval of a new source or investigation of a possible non-conformity.
